These services include:

Grief Support Workshops and Drop-in Groups

A facilitated Drop-In Grief Support Group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 3:00-4:30 pm (starting promptly at 3:00 pm).  No registration is required.  Participants receive support and are invited to share feelings and experiences in a confidential peer-group setting.  Each session also includes grief education focused on a theme, such as common grief reactions, coping with stress, or grief within families.  The group meets in the Jefferson Healthcare Home Health and Hospice conference room, 3rd floor, 2500 W. Sims Way (Sims Way and Howard Street, off the roundabout) in Port Townsend.

Short-Term Individual Grief Counseling and Grief Assessments

A trained Hospice counselor is available for up to three one-hour private sessions for those who may feel they are not ready yet to share their grief experience in a group setting, or who want to find out more about participating in a group. These sessions are offered free of charge to anyone grieving a death. Appointments can be made in advance by contacting the hospice office at 360-385-0610 or leaving a message at 360-385-2200 ext 4684.

Annual Community Memorial Service

Every autumn, Hospice of Jefferson Healthcare invites community members who have lost a loved one in the past year to a free, non-denominational service of remembrance. The service is held in the fall before the holiday season, because the winter holidays are often difficult and lonely especially during the first year after a death. The service includes music, candle lighting, responsive readings, reflections, sharing, and the opportunity to add a photo or memento to the hospice memorial quilt.
